I started APL Marine because I am a boater, just like you. I want the best deal possible and when it comes to buying a new boat, the best place to get this is in America, which is where my story begins really. I had found the boat I wanted OK, but how to get it here?

Following a long and caffiene fueled search of the internet, I realised at that point that nowhere had the information I was looking for with regard to importing a boat for personal or pleasure use, and more importantly nobody out there was prepared to do this on my behalf. I ended up buying a boat from the UK in case you're interested and paying through the nose for it, but sometime later I began to wonder how many other people, like me, had been put off the idea of importing a boat because of a lack of information out there on how to do it.

To this end I have spent a lot of time talking to haulage companies, shipping companies, customs officials and pretty well everyone I could think of getting as much information as possible, but I wanted APL Marine to be more than that!

I wanted it to be a sort of one stop shop for boaters, which is why we can offer servicing either in South Manchester or Pwlhelli in North Wales, and soon rolling out across the country, it's why we offer powerboat training through our directory of approved trainers, it's why we can supply almost any part for any boat or engine; often from stock and delivered the next working day, it's why we offer transport on our fully insured vehicles and loads of other services too, basically to make owning a boat as hassle free as possible.
